You will soon discover how a dog lover like me found a way to build a proper dog kennel by recently obtaining fully laid out and easy to follow dog kennel plans, that made me look like a DIY superstar.
Now all this was made necessary because I recently picked up an old stray dog from people who could not properly care for him. This old stray was scruffy and smelled bad when I brought him home.
My kids loved me for it, but I must say at the very least the looks I got from my wife, I could see she was not very pleased with this development. However, as she knows of my love for dogs, she decided to accept him if I properly cleaned him and took him to the vet to get all his shots.
The biggest problem that I found out after cleaning him was that he had no hygienic training as he left his mark all over the house. This caused my wife to put her foot down and issued me with a stern warning that this dog will have to live outdoors, no if, or buts.
This left me with no option but to make a drastic plan if I want to keep my mutt, which already crept into my heart. After wracking my brains it dawned on me to go to the trusty Internet to solve my problem and I started to look for dog kennel plans.
To my surprise, I found out that there are many, many plans on the Internet to build a dog kennel with a material list to choose from, with single dog kennels as well as dog kennels with dog runs, of which I made sure I chose a dog kennel with a dog run for my new partner in crime.
Although my wife banned my mutt from our house, she was quick to involve herself and made sure I understand certain points. For one she pointed out that the kennel must be comfortable, and that I must purchase materials that can withstand severe weather and if my dog turns out to be a chewer no chemically treated wood can be used.
The wise thing to do is to build the areas your dog cannot reach with pressure treated lumber. However, you need something that will not rot in severe weather like, a composite building material or wood.
She also pointed out that it is important to keep in mind that the dog can enjoy lying in the sun. Therefore, it is important that he can get out of the sun when needed and has plenty of ventilation. In addition, I had to cater for a sheltered area which can be lined with straw or an old blanket to provide heat should we have severe cold spells.
As the dog might be forced to spend extended periods of time in his kennel during harsh weather it must be big enough for him to not get bored and pick up bad habits.
Now when I decided to build the kennel for my new dog I knew I had to get dog kennel plans that are easy to follow and detailed because to be honest I am not that good with building stuff myself.
